Team Aubrey

We are Amber, Nathan, Monika, and Sean. Together we make up Team Aubrey. Amber and Sean live in Boise, ID where Aubrey is currently. Nathan and Monika live in Omaha, NE. On May 27th, 2016, our daughter Aubrey fell out of a 2nd story window onto a concrete drive way. She suffered a skull fracture, pneumothorax, bone fragments in her eye muscle, spleen injury, and intestinal trauma that caused it to swell shut until it can heal. It could have been much worse and we were very lucky she had only the injuries she did, no matter how serious they are, she is still alive. The facial surgeon said the skull fracture isn't decompressed so she won't need surgery, it'll heal in about 6 months. Her feet will be glued to the floor until then, she isn't even allowed to go up and down the stairs by herself or climb onto the potty by herself at risk of possibly tripping or falling and hitting her head where her fracture will take a while to heal. They are religiously monitoring her spleen and are prepared to remove it if she starts to bleed internally. The optic surgeon is waiting for swelling to go down before deciding if he will surgically remove the piece of bone fragment that's poking on her eye muscle. Her intestines are bruised so she won't be able to eat or drink anything for 2-3 weeks until it's healed. She has to have a food tube until then. All in all, she will be here for at least a month or two. During the entire time Aubrey is in the hospital and a month or two after she's discharged, Nathan will be staying in Idaho at the hospital and Amber's house to support Aubrey's recovery. Aubrey will also need round the clock care from Amber once Nathan leaves, which means Amber is unable to work like she had planned before the incident. Nathan is a stay at home dad of Monika's son, Brantley, back in Nebraska. Monika will need help with unexpected daycare expenses that she suddenly needs to pay for since Nathan will be 3 states away and cannot help. Amber is a stay at home of Aubrey, and her little sister Harlow as well. Because Amber will not be leaving Aubrey's side either, Sean will need help with unexpected daycare expenses that he needs to pay for since Harlow is an infant and any crying or even happy yells will overstimulate Aubrey. Amber has plans to spend all evenings with Harlow in the PEDS wing in the infant play room. Amber and Nathan cannot stand the thought of leaving Aubrey's side, then Aubrey suddenly calling one of them, and they don't show up. They will be staying in the hospital every second until Aubrey is discharged. During that time, Aubrey will want some comfort items, paint books, sticker books, arts and crafts, special snacks, anything to make her happy once she is not bed ridden and in pain anymore. Nathan and Amber will also need help with food while they are in the hospital. Luckily, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at St Luke's Hospital has a kitchen with an oven and microwave. We have yet to wrap our mind around what has happened and our only concern right now is Aubrey. Eventually, we will run out of funds and that will be a huge stress on us. We are all completely overwhelmed and are asking for any type of help we can get. We will never forget any type of help we receive!
