Connor and Now Gus's Vet Care

Donation protected
Now that Connor is doing much better (thanx to everyone who contributed), we have a new little nugget who needs our help.  Meet Gus.  Gus came into the shelter and became an instant fav due to his winning personality.  Unfortunately whomever had him before didn't do right by this guy and let his teeth get into horrid condition - so much so that they all (except one) rotted away and left him with a damaged jaw.  The poor boy came in skin & bones weighing little more than 2 pounds because he has difficulty eating.  Initial X-rays were done and his jaw has fractures all thru it from severe dental disease.  We want to take him to our specialist to see what, if anything, can be done for this little guy but that's where we need your help....AGAIN!  We upped the goal of our campaign to try and get some much needed funds to get this one the care he needs.  Look at that teeny face - how can we turn our back on him.  Thanks for your upport so far and if you can give we appreciate it.  If you can share, that would be a big help as well!

Meet Connor.  This little boy was (supposedly) found in the middle of a deserted parking lot at 3 AM in the Woodbridge, NJ area.  The fact that he is only about 10 weeks old, weighs in at 3 pounds and is blind makes that highly unlikely.  But that doesn't matter anymore...what does matter is that he is now safe in the care of All Star Pet Rescue (www.allstar.petfinder.com) and at a specialty hospital being treated for swelling of the brain.

The doctors originally thought he was suffering from a condition known as hydrocephalus, or water on the brain.  Since he exhibited all the symptoms he was taken down to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital to see what, if anything, could be done for him.  An MRI was the starting point and if anyone who has gotten one for their animal knows - they are very pricey.

The good news is that the vets ruled out hydrocephalus and are now leaning more towards either some sort of trauma or an infectious agent.  Being that he seems to be responding to some general supportive therapy and the fact that the swelling is not only seen in his brain but also in the muscle on only one side of his head, right now we are handling it as if it was caused by some sort of injury...either a drop or a fall or God forbid a deliberate kick.  We will know more once the blood work testing for any disease causing agents comes back.

Whatever caused this little peanut's problem, we need help covering this and all his future vet expenses.  As of now our bill is at $4000 and he's not yet out of the woods.  Connor does seem to be a bit more alert and his shaking has subsided but he is still blind and will need continued supportive care until the swelling resolves.  That is why we are turning to the caring public.  We rarely ask for money to care for the creatures that come our way but we have had a rash of expensive vet cases lately and need help to get this guy on the road to recovery.  We are looking forward to watching him romp and play with the others and then to find him a safe and loving forever home once he is all healed.  But we need your help to make that happen.  We, and most especially Connor, will appreciate any and all help to get us to our goal.  We are hoping to collect enough to cover our statement when it comes in next month so we will keep this open until October (2016).

We had a wonderful offer today from our All Star friend, Joan Sabatino, stating that she will match our GoFundMe donations up to $10,000!!! We could save so many more sick & injured pups with money like that in the bank! PLEASE donate what you can to help us reach our goal. You can bet that every last dollar we raise goes towards the care of the dogs we take into our rescue.

Thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts.  Making this guy well again would mean so much to all of us.  Please contribute if you are able.  And please be sure to keep little Connor in your prayers.  He's made it this far.  Let's help him finish his healing journey together.
