26th Week Emergency C-Section

Donation protected
My name is Chris Anderson. I am humbly raising funds for my brother Tom and his wife Minda. Minda was in her 26th week of pregnancy when she began leaking amniotic fluid. She went to her doctor immediately, and was then admitted to Evanston Hospital. After review with a team of neonatologist, it was determined that the babies umbilical cord was not functioning properly and the baby was at risk. It was a terrifying moment for Tom and Minda when it was in the baby's and Minda's best interest to have an emergency C-section delivery. Baby Maxine Annette Anderson was delivered/born Tuesday November 26th weighing 1lb 4oz. She was immediately taken to Evanston's ISCU (infant special care unit), a level 3 nursery. This is the highest level nursery, with 24-hour care. Minda is doing good, and recovering. Baby Maxine is extremely premature. I spoke with one of the nurses, and she told me she is one of the smallest newborns to come through their nursery. I visited with them, and Tom took me down to see Maxine. The scrub-in procedure is very thorough. I was told she was very tiny. Once the nurse lifted the quilted cover over her incubator, my heart melted. I was so stunned at her tiny size. Roughly the size of a little girls doll. She is attached to a breathing tube, a feeding tube, and vital leads. Her oxygen levels are constantly monitored. She is in a clear enclosure with hand/arm pass-through. Currently, Maxine has shown positive signs with all the test she has gone through. She will be in the ISCU till the end of February or early March. The doctors have benchmarks for her to achieve before she can go home. This is going to be a severe emotional and financial strain on Tom and Minda. Both our families are offering everything we can to support them, but in the end, they will need money to cover their expenses. They have health insurance, Minda has short term disability. All good things if baby was taken to 9-month term. They have been encouraged to come to the hospital every day by the doctor's and nurses. However, with their recent home purchase, furnishing purchases, Minda's master degree student loans, they both are already talking of going back to work immediately to be able to keep up. Tom even talked of getting a 2nd job. When I heard them talking about having to do this, I was overwhelmed with sorrow and a determination to find a way to help them, so they can focus on one thing, and one thing only, MAXINE. Minda needs more time to recover. Tom needs to be with Minda, and they both need to be with, and bond with Maxine. Everyday. I don't want them to worry about monthly bills, mortgage payments, etc.. I am just seeking financial help to get them through till March, when they can bring baby Maxine home. Please, give what you can, share this on social media, spread the word. I humbly ask this, because my love for my family is unequivocal, and I know they would do this for others. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and God bless you!!!
