Hello everyone!
Thank you for visiting my Go Fund Me site. My name is Behzad Afshar and I'm starting a new venture in Graphic Novels. After years of writing I've finally built several story outlines for the Graphic Novel genre. I started writing poetry soon after finishing four years of honorable service in the US Navy. My love for story telling took me to Florida Gulf Coast University where I was an editor and contributor to the Mangrove Review and Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Oman where I taught English at various university and high school levels.
I'm raising money to start Bald Spot Studios in order to tell compelling stories using words and pictures. I'm signed up for a small business class through SBDC Minnesota and will continue to use their help to develope a sound business plan and hire talent to produce graphic novels.
The money will be used to free up credit so that I can finance my dreams. In the last year, I've had to spend $4,500 on auto repairs. I'm presently employed but in the months of October and November of 2015 I was on unemployment. I also had chronic neck and back pain due to severe TMD which caused me to miss a lot of work which was unpaid.
The debts have piled up but my optimism has only gotten brighter. I plan on starting this business the good 'ol American way: a dream and hard work. I will publish stories that are based on compelling characters and story lines rather than on violence and shock value.
I will need the funds by April 6th. If we can do this, I'll be able to move forward in creating stories unlike any other to date. I encourage everyone to follow my facebook page and website . The beginning process will be tedious in order to make sure Bald Spot Studios is a sustainable and strong business. I can't do this without your support and I promise a free electronic copy of my first graphic novel to every person who donates.
