SnRM - RUSTY GATE
Donation protected
SnRM is a Jersey City-based studio established to advance para-architectural discourse. We host events like gallery exhibits and talks- but we also are a site of community initiatives.
We are indepentally funded out-pocket and have been building out the studio over the past few years.
We want to be open to our community, with regular hours like any other storefront space. However, our rusty old roll-down gate is holding us back and has got to go!!
The condition it's in makes it physically harder to hold events at our studio. It also represents an overreaction to crime from decades ago and it doesn't reflect how inviting our community and studio space is. Replacing this gate will help us be able to open for regular hours and really jumpstart our studio and its mission.
We have drafted up proposals of new custom screen gates that have a number of advantages!
-operable from inside/outside
-visbility is welcoming and lets light into our studio
-can be opened by 1 person and short people
-it won't be so noisy as we close after events at night
-still durable and safe!
-attractive and showcases our studio
-built in lock, rather than a janky padlock
We had sent out estimates and received quotes that put us in the ball park of $2500 for removal, custom fabrication and install.
The great news is that if we get at least $1200 in funding, then a [secret benefactor] will match that amount!!!
Please help us reach this goal by the end of the summer!
