Muhamed needs a breath of fresh air!
Muhamed was born on June 14, 2015 at 26 weeks gestation. Being born as a severely premature infant put him at a disadvantage. He needed support for almost every organ system, with his lungs being the most fragile. Most premature babies born at an early gestational age, face far more significant challenges, developmentally as well as physically. This is not to say that Muhamed's path has been easy, it has not. Despite his setbacks with lung disease, Muhamed has managed to meet developmental milestones and his cognition is intact. Muhamed is a fighter and has fought for his life, with every breath. The battle for him continues. His long journey in the neonatal intensive care unit has not ended and his family is now facing an out of state transfer for a much needed lung transplant. With a transplant, Muhamed will one day be able to blow his mom kisses, say prayers with his daddy and play outside with his many cousins. All who have met this little guy won't soon forget him. His eyes are captivating and his smile is as charismatic as any mischievous boy's can be.
