Miracle Maddy we believe in you!
Little Miss Miracle Maddy Johnson is a charismatic, amazing, energetic teenager who happens to have a heart that couldn't quite keep up with her. On Wednesday May 11th Maddy was at swim practice for what seemed like just another day at the pool, unfortunately it wasn't. During practice Maddy got out of the water to tell her coach that she wasn't feeling good and suddenly passed out in her coach's arms. Maddys coach quickly called 911, and the responding Fire Department made a life saving decision to transport Maddy to Primary Children's Hospital. Soon after arriving to the emergency room Maddys heart stopped. Only by the hard work of emergency room staff, state of the art Life supporting equipment, and the strength of our Miricle Maddy was she able to get through that day. Maddy was given medication to put her in a deep sleep while life support did the work for her heart and lungs, allowing her body to rest and get stronger.
After hours of testing, Maddy received a diagnosis from the skilled Doctors taking care of her. Maddy has a heart defect that is extremely rare and truly makes her 1 in a million (just like everyone has always known her to be)! Maddy has undergone multiple surgeries to repair the imperfection in her heart, as well as procedures to keep her body stabilized while she is recovering. With the support of her amazing Family and the incredible medical professionals that have surrounded her every second since these traumatic events took place, Maddy is fighting to recover. We miss her contagious smile and energy and look forward to spending time with her.
While Maddy recovers and continues to be cared for at Primary Children's Hospital, medical expenses are adding up, which is why we started this Go Fund Me account. Our hope is that any money raised will only make this process easier for Maddy and for her family. We don't know how long Maddy will be in the hospital, all we know is we want her home as soon as possible. With the help of Family, Friends, and Strangers we have the opportunity to make this difficult time a little bit easier.
Its an absolute Miracle that the circumstances took place when and where they did. It's a Miracle that the choices made during this emergency were made quickly and correctly. It's a Miracle that this young woman has the fight in her to make it through way more than any 13 year old should ever have to endure. But that's why she's our Miracle Maddy Girl.
