24 neglected/seized dogs in rescue

Donation protected

Several months ago we took in 24 very neglected and abused small dogs that were seized from a filthy  home that had 60 plus dogs in it along with cats and many birds. Dead dogs were also found throughout the home. Animal control couldn't enter without first getting hazmat suits on because the home was so dangerously filthy. Some said they had never seen a more horrific scene as what all these animals were forced to live in.  The condition the animals were in, brought everyone there that night to tears. WARNING Some pictures are graphic.

FILTHY LIVING CONDITIONS, many were locked away in an overcrowded garage with no natural light or fresh air. Feces mixed in with kibble and filthy  water. No beds or toys, no human companionship.

BELOW IS THE GARAGE AFTER MOST DOGS WERE TAKEN OUTSIDE. THE FLOORS WERE THICKLY PACKED WITH FECES AND URINE AND SO WERE THE DOGS.

MATTED AND UNABLE TO WALK PROPERLY

The Washington seizure became a breaking story that made the news all over North America for a few days. A few weeks after, we were asked if we could help.  We found out then that  the home STILL had 24 of the most ill dogs there.  None of the dogs left were very young. Some quite senior. It was obvious most had been bred several times. Right away we said we would take all of the  remaining dogs. And since then, we have had them all together in one private Langley home/rescue where they are very well cared for 24/7 and were able to recover.

It's been months of medications and vet care. Some we thought we would lose. Dogs died at that home even after this seizure. So most came here very sick. Neglected Infections left some deaf and blind. They were infested with mites and worms and you couldn't tell their breed or gender until they were shaved right down. One sweet small dog was completely missing a foot! Our vet Dr.Rana at Apex animal hospital Langley treated them  and advised that none have surgeries until they were well enough and fully recovered. They are finally well enough now and are just waiting for the animal lovers out there to help us pay for some surgeries still needed. We have had vaccines and rabies done for all 24 dogs,  an eye removal and many dental surgeries that were a priority because of pain. We have also covered their 24 microchips, several wormings and tons of medications.  The costs are in the $THOUSANDS now. But we need help with the cost of several more non emergency surgeries.  Many Spays,  1 more eye removal and several more dentals.  Will you help us?

WE HAVE LITERALLY GONE THROUGH SHELVES  OF MEDICATION FOR THE DOGS INFECTIONS.

THE GOOD NEWS IS, they are all well and healthy now. They feel good, full of energy and quite playful now that they are not suffering from any infections or pain.
They are good natured affectionate, and appreciate everything.  We have dedicated the last several months to giving them the lives they should have always had but never knew existed.  Complete freedom, No cages or crates.  They  have a huge yard to chase each other in or can just nap in the sun. They had the best summer of their lives!

The play is ongoing all day and they have freedom to come indoors whenever they like. These two below are taking a rest after a stint of hard wrestling. Grooming has been very difficult to keep up with.  We could use professional help in this area but must put all funds on surgeries so services would have to be volunteer. Our rescue runs strictly by volunteers only. That way, all funds go only on the dogs we take in to help.

They are always supervised and protected. And every single one has one on one time with plenty of hugs and kisses. They will smother you with love if given the chance. And they get this chance all the time! Can you spot the human?

We need your help to cover the surgeries so they can go onto the second chapter of their lives. Please help them get there. No amount is too small. Please give what you can and challenge your friends to as well.  Please share our plea and help us raise these funds.  They deserve it and are very worth it. We began another fundraiser page recently but the petcaring site is no  longer, so we have had to begin  again.  $1200 already was raised.

If you wish to donate by cheque, please make it out to Pekingese rescue of BC and mail it to

Our petition went to the prosecutor.  The owner has been charged with animal cruelty finally. She has pled not guilty. We will post updates.

Thanks to Janice for taking 10 of the dogs to the vet in one day for us because our truck isn't running. She has helped with picking up food donations and really been there for us. http://www.petstovets.ca/
