BikeLeavenworth is a biking advocacy program. Our goal is to get Leavenworth locals to bike rather than drive to daily hotspots like the grocery store. We partner with local businesses, who provide incentives for bikers, creating a win-win-win situation that promotes sustainability, health, and local commerce.
What exactly do businesses do?
Participating businesses offer rewards for biking. For example, a grocery store gives free pieces of fruit with bikers' purchases. Coffee shops give double the punches on a punch card. Restaurants give discounts on drinks or appetizers. Anything to make people think twice when they're deciding whether to grab their car keys or their helmet.
Since its creation, BikeLeavenworth has started partnerships with over twenty Leavenworth businesses. The full roster is on our website, where you can also find an interactive map. Also check out our Facebook page for regular updates to our list of participants!
What does BikeLeavenworth need?
BikeLeavenworth was founded by a high school student with a vision for a better, more eco-friendly Leavenworth. Since April 2015, BikeLeavenworth has been funded completely out of pocket. Expenses include costs of printing promotional materials, small stickers, posters, bumper stickers, and maps, all of which are distributed free of charge to participating businesses and potential bikers.
BikeLeavenworth cannot exist without outside support! Please help us expand our operations with your donation. Money will go towards more stickers, bumper stickers, maps, and materials for participating businesses, like the special posters that let bikers know which businesses are BikeLeavenworth members! We would not be able to function without these kinds of promotional materials; they are necessary to show the world what BikeLeavenworth is about!
