Bumkin's Bootcamp

Bumkin is a very special boy who arrived at the SPCA in January of 2016. His love for people quickly made him a staff and volunteer favorite. Unfortunately Bumkin has not been handling life in the shelter very well. When left alone, he cries and climbs the walls of kennels, and chews his feet and tail until his fur falls out and he begins to bleed. In fear of his safety, staff began to keep Bumkin with them in the adoption office whenever they could to lessen his stress and fear. That is when they discovered Bumkin had another bad habit- he did not like cats and most other dogs (he wanted people all to himself!) 

Many people fell in love with Bumkin, but once hearing of his issues quickly passed him by. However, the staff at the SPCA refused to give up, and we have been fortunate to find Bumkin a training program that will work with him and help him be more suitable for a home. The only problem- the training program for Bumkin alone will cost over $2,800. 

No matter what, Bumkin will receive the care and training he has always deserved. But there are always dogs in need of this kind of program. We hope with your help we can set a precendent with Bumkin and maintain proper funding to help other dogs like him receive the training they need to find a loving home. Once funds are raised for Bumkin, all continuing donations will go towards maintaining a behavioral training program at the SPCA. The Frances R.
