Hello!
I was hoping you could help me, fund me. My name is Julia.
I am in the process of realizing career dreams that I haven't had in a long time. I let my ambitions lay dormant and/or stagnant for a period of years because I was too scared to pursue what I really wanted. I went from a failed Plan A to a failed Plan B to a failed Plan C and so on, because of anxiety, stage fright, and other problems that set me back and crushed my self esteem into teeny bits. If this sounds familiar to your own creative process sometimes, read on.
During this time, I still worked as hard as I could on Plans A, B, and C on a MacBook Pro from way-back-when in 2009. Now that I am hopeful about going back full throttle to these Plans, my MacBook is crashing and dying. I cannot use MS Word, Flash, Skype, any services that need an operating system newer than OS 10.5.8 and an operating trackpad and keys. Yes, I said 10.5.8.
My career of choice has always involved writing, and I want to bring my writing to you in an adequate format -- right now I am simply on Twitter (@supervillainist), one of the only platforms that allows me to type out content on my outdated OS system. I need more though. I want to build a website to bring quality sci-fi fashion and beauty and literature content to you, I want to finish my novel, and I want to meet with you and talk with you about all the things that we have in common.
For the past two years, I have been unemployed or underemployed. My credit card debt is higher than I ever thought it would be and it will take me a year or two to pay it off before I can use it again. I also pay New York City rent and live meagerly with expensive New York City amenities as best I can. If you know anyone who has been hard-up due to the Recession, this is a familiar tale to you. If you haven't heard it before... bless you!
Before I can pay off my debt entirely (which I'm doing in a timely manner, by the way) and make more money with a more lucrative day job (which my writing might aid, by the way again), I want to bring my content --The Supervillain Stylist-- to you fans who have thus far supported me on Twitter, Periscope, and on various podcasts. And to new fans! Of course!
In order to do that, I am hoping to raise enough money to purchase a new MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina display. $1000 is enough funding to help me along and I am able to go the rest of the way myself with some savings. I have analyzed the costs of refurbishing my current computer and overhauling the whole thing and getting a new computer is much more cost-savvy.
