Our Place is a non-profit organization, whose mission is to provide education, prevention, treatment, and intervention services for individuals of all ages, families, organizations, and communities who are presently or potentially impacted by alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs of abuse.
Our Place first opened its doors in 1981—35 years later, Our Place still continues to provide the region with an array of programs and services, which benefits youth, adults, and families.
Some of our programs include: Afterschool Rocks, an after school program for 4th grade students in Floyd County, Indiana.
Footprints for Life, an in school program for 2nd graders in Floyd, Clark, Harrison, Scott, Washington, and Crawford counties, designed to promote developmental assets to deter the first use of alcohol and other drugs.
LifeSkills Training is a program that Our Place brings to the elementary, middle, and high schools in Clark, Floyd, and Harrison County. It is a substance abuse prevention program proven to reduce the risks of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and violence by targeting the major social and psychological factors that promote the initiation of substance use and other risky behaviors.
In addition to all our programs targeted toward youth, Our Place also offers a variety of treatment and recovery programs for teens and adults struggling with substance abuse.
Our Place even offers the New Beginnings Program and Families in Transition program, which works directly with the parents of children involved in a troubling event (divorce or separation), providing tools to the parents to address multiple issues that may arise in their child's developmental process.
We are raising money for Our Place so that we can sustain the many programs that we already have in place, and so that we can continue to serve over 6,000 youth and adults in southern Indiana. The money raised will go directly to these impactful programs.
Our goal is to raise $12,000 by June 30.
We do have a local funder who will match our funds raised.
Raising this money means so much to us here at Our Place because we recently lost some funding for our programs. And for a non-profit agency, that makes it extremely difficult for us to continue to do what we have been doing. Our programs have proven to be a success through our data and feedback, so losing this money has hit really hard for us.
Raising $12,000 will not only allow us to continue our programs, but it will also mean we are not letting our youth, adults, and community down. We are here to provide prevention education to our youth, and we are here to support and give a helping hand to those who may be struggling with addiction. We believe people need help to change, but it takes a village. We can't do it alone, but together we can do it all! Please, be a part of our village and consider donating to our organization.
