Caring for Carey's Family

I've prayed for many, many years for God to guide me through our Tyler's autism, to make my efforts worthy of his daily challenges and hard work.  We've made great strides, but then behaviors presented in Tyler that we were at a loss of how to handle.   Very few family or friends knew, but we were in crisis mode for several years.  Until, Carey.

Carey Bowman came to us through the Autism Society of NC.  He is the first friend Tyler has ever had and my source of strength.   The inroads that we have made as a family, are nothing short of a miracle through Carey's knowledge, guidance and love. And most importantly, he truly BELIEVES in Tyler.

But Carey, our very own angel from God himself, is fighting his own battle... terminal cancer.   He's only 27 years old, and has two beautiful young boys (one with autism) and an extraordinary wife Patty Jo,  who is holding steadfast in hope, love and making memories for their family.

Carey, having done two Air Force tours in Afghanistan, is a fighter, and shares his wit, selfless love, dedication and charming smile to everyone he meets.   He is that guy who walks into a room, who everyone wants to get to know.  Can you imagine how humbled we are that Carey chooses to spend his precious time with our family?

He and his family need funding for past bills while undergoing 18 months of chemotherapy, as well as alternative medicine options, healthy foods and limitless opportunities to make memories for his sweet boys.

This is everyone's chance to be a part of the pay it forward legacy that Carey brings to the world each and every day.  Let's do this with the same spirit vitality, commitment and love... Money should never be a roadblock to seeking ways to beat this cancer and seeing the world through your children's eyes for every adventure possible.

May God bless our Carey Bowman.
Give hope. Give love. Give generously.  It will be a random act of kindness that will exponentially grow from Tyler to Carey and beyond.

As many of you know, on Thursday, our beautiful Carey began his journey with Jesus in God's glorious heaven. We can be assured through God's peace and grace that Carey is now pain-free and full of life as only Carey can do it ;-)

However, the needs of his sweet family still abound as they begin the healing process and put the pieces of their life together in a new "normal".

Please continue to give and spread the word so Patty Jo, Eli and Carver can get out from under the financial burden of the past year, and support their rebuilding as Patty Jo embarks on her new journey of going back school.

Blessings and gratitude to all,

Lynda

Hey Universe! Let's show Carey that walking with a cane, coupled with his Harrison Ford hat from the Lost Ark, still makes him the coolest, dearest, most brilliant Raider!!

Seriously, scan weeks are awful, so PLEASE let's lift his spirit with a little (or alot) of cash to fund every option he chooses to discover.
Carey, sees Tyler through his first day!

I knew Carey (both of you?) tangentially through the USAF weather community. I know some of the people who shared this on FB directly. So sorry to hear of your loss and the loss this will be for the boys (we have 4 under the age of 7). Love the reliance on Christ and I pray you'll continue to find His grace is sufficient, even in the midst of the most difficult of circumstances.

Patty Jo - I often think of our time in Tampa in orchestra and small group. I have been and will continue to pray for your sweet family. Blessings and Merry Christmas!

Would much rather see Casey's smiling face then donating any amount for money. You'll be greatly missed.

My condolences for the Bowman Family. I never met Carey but his mother, aunt and uncle have been family friends for many years. May God keep you in His arms. Very happy that the Cubs stepped up to the plate for Carey to experience.
