Welcome to the funding page for Age of the Atroximals
I'm Fidel S. Arbolaez, writer, project manager and creator of the series.
This series is about the conflicts between humanity and mutants, known as Atroximals, spanning throughout future generations. These stories are told through the eyes and personal accounts of different characters, represented and illustrated by different artists.

In the near future, the U.S. military kills a giant monster but its infectious remains mutate any animal or human unfortunate enough to contract it. These mutants spread across the world nearly wiping out all of humanity, and what's left of humankind enters a dark age. Over 320 years later, the Gvidi - technologically advanced descendants of scientists and clairvoyants - bring humanity back from the brink, ending the dark age. When the atroximals suddenly swarm the world with avengeance, much of humanity bands together and strikes back against the monsters. After this new world war, different civilizations work towards separate goals.
For years, I’ve been wanting to create a dark sci-fi series where artists, writers, fans and other creatives can join in enriching its universe. Despite having to tweak my original vision here and there, due to experience and strong suggestions from family and friends looking out for me, that original idea is still present. Want to illustrate? Want to make a story to be part of the official canon? Want to create something to just show off? We can work together and negotiate payment if you want! Building an intriguingly entertaining literary universe, with the participation of a thriving and supportive creative community, would be one of my biggest dreams come true; a big dream that could open up possibilities to even bigger realizations.
To make a quality comic series, you need some quality talent. I can currently preform my duties just enough without dedicating full-time to the series (though I would prefer to dedicate much more energy towards this series as such in the near future,) so my main concern right now is to pay the artists who illustrate the stories. Most – if not all – of the funds received will go towards such things as, creating merchandise and paying talented artists, to help bring this series into reality. (You can see the work of the ones who I'm partners with currently on the main webcomic page and more will be joining soon.) Expenses are a monthly occurrence for me so I hope I’ll be receiving enough each month to cover them.
There are rewards offered to those who chip in to help with this project. Each previous reward will be added to the next the more you give:
$1 Monthly Contribution Reward:
- Name added in the new episodes’ descriptions as a thank you to contributors
- Monthly drawings for sketches
--- Winner will get to choose the artist and what they want sketched by them
[*Drawings will begin when total of monthly contributors reaches 25]
$3 Monthly Contribution Reward:
- Behind-the-scenes access
--- Planned project lineup, writing, sketches, ideas, etc…
- Desktop wallpaper
$5 Monthly Contribution Reward:
- You will receive an autographed physical comic issue through the mail upon its first availability, even before the webcomic is finished (if possible)
$12 Monthly Contribution Reward:
- You (or your 'descendent') as a character in one of the future projects (issues, possible animated shorts, etc…) [Warning: Not liable for your character’s life or death]; Don’t want to wait or just rather not be in a story at all? Choose the artist and what you want sketched by them! (1 work by contributor’s request per month)
$50 Monthly Contribution Reward:
- You will receive AoftheA non-comic merchandise (t-shirts, special books, etc…) through the mail upon their first availability

The more you pay the more rewards you’ll be offered and maybe, if you come up with something you want to share and have featured (or even become part of canon,) by any of my partners and me, you’ll increase your chances greatly.
