Ta-Ta, Tatas - Breast Reduction

Donation protected

Hey there!

My name is Tahlia, I am a 26yr old female that enjoys reading, video games, writing, watercolour painting and dressing my dog up in cute outfits.

Over the past couple of years I have had a lot of my independence stripped from me at the hands of endometriosis. The pain, nausea and chronic fatigue meant that I had trouble getting out of bed most days, let alone commit to anything such as study or a job. Recently this was treated via laparoscopic surgery and I am steadily recovering!

However, as of the 3rd of August, 2016, I have officially been diagnosed as having premature ovarian failure. This means:

- I am unable to conceive children as I no longer have functioning ovaries

- I have not been producing adequate levels of oestrogen for a significant amount of time and as such have developed osteopenia (borderline osteroporsis).

Those who have met me have probably noticed that I am quite large busted. At present my bust measurement is 102cm, I wear a H cup bra and they weigh about 4kg collectively. THEY HEAVY.

Last year I was referred to a breast surgeon who confirmed that I would need medical intervention as the weight of my bust is putting pressure on my neck vertebrae. This would become an increasing issue as I got older and reached menopause but as mentioned above, I'm already there. The bone weakness puts me at risk of fracturing the neck vertebrae and ending up with a dowager's hump.

As you can see there's already some curving going on with my neck and shoulders.

Emotionally and socially, I am embarrassed by them. Only yesterday while clothes shopping every salesperson commented on the size of my bust. This has led to feeling a lot of anxiety around clothes shopping. I am constantly aware of my bust and have received a lot of unwanted attention over it, including once having my chest grabbed while I walked down Brunswick St.

Having a breast reduction will change my life. My neck will be able to be corrected. I will no longer have chronic back pain. I'll be able to exercise without weights on my chest painfully bouncing. I'll be able to go clothes shopping and actually fit things. A literal weight will be lifted from my shoulders.

The surgeon gave me a quote of $10,715, with a $1000 booking fee. The price covers the surgery, the anaesthetist, the bed and theatre fee, follow up appointments, support garments and light therapy for the scars. Medicare will cover $1173.

I am slowly accruing my own savings for this and am hoping to get work as soon as I am fully recovered from the laparoscopy. In the meantime, if you are able and so inclined, any amount that helps me get closer to having this surgery will result in happy tears.

Thank you for your time!
