Donation protected
Are you ready to build?! So are we!

Join us on:
Saturday, April 29th 9am-3pm at Granby Elementary School

We will be installing the learning garden at Granby Elementary in phases. The first phase will be to build the fence around the garden and to kill the grass inside of the fence with cardboard.

And we need your help to build it! Below you'll find the ways to help during the first phase of building:

Leading up to the building date, we will be fundraising for the fencing. The cost of the fence is approximately $600.

Please consider how you might be able to give in the following ways:

-Donating to our GoFundMe Page:
A $25 gift will buy 3 timbers for the fence
a $50 gift will buy half a roll of wire fencing
a $120 gift will buy an entire roll of wire fencing

-Donating a roll of wire fencing:
Red Brand Welded Wire 72"x100' (we need 2 rolls)

-Donating treated lumber:
4"x4"x8' pressure treated lumber (we need 20)
2"x6"x10' treated lumber (we need 20)

-Donate the rental for a gas powered auger

-Donating quikcrete (we need 15 bags)

-Donating screws and nails (3 1/2" decking screws)

-Donating cardboard (all kinds! Cereal boxes, packing boxes, cardboard toy boxes, etc)

The mission of the Granby Elementary School Garden is to build an outdoor classroom, productive food and habitat gardens for pre-kindergarten to high school. We envision the garden as an interactive classroom that fosters an environment for engaged and project based learning spanning across all academic subjects and offering a free, fresh, and healthy food option for every student, every day. Integrating a garden into course curriculum will support content standards and Common Core State standards, enhance student interest, encourage good student behavior, and transform the health and values of the children at Granby. At the same time, an outdoor garden will help students achieve life skills, such as communication, personal and community stewardship, flexibility, and perseverance.
