Hello friends,
I come to you today asking you to help one of our amazing friends, Thiago Pinheiro. As some of you may know Thiago is 90% blind with glaucoma in both eyes. He was born completely blind and throughout his life has been able to gain only 10% of this sight from medications and past surgeries. I am attempting a huge endeavor along with my good friend Logan Soto in raising $25,000 to pay for a major surgery that would require Thiago to have one of his corneas replaced. I know this is a lot of money to attempt raising but with this surgery he will receive a donor’s tissue, the procedure, medications and new special prescription glasses. IF there are any funds left over, they will be saved for a future surgery in the other eye since he cannot have both corneas replaced at the same time (it’s too much for the body to take). If we do not hit the goal but are close, we may still be able to get the ball rolling.
Thiago is an amazing person and any of you out there who have seen him perform live in his group O-GAH will agree that it’s a miracle he can play the keyboard like he does. We feel he’s kind of the the Stevie Wonder of the psytrance world. Most of you probably didn’t even know he was blind. I didn’t for a couple years. I always noticed the thick glasses he wears and one day he took his glasses off and I saw that both of his eyes are completely white. He told me the story about his vision and later I had a talk with Logan and said “let’s do a fund raiser and help Thiago see”. Logan said “YES! please, let’s do this”. He expressed to me how much trouble Thiago has with his daily life, let alone the traveling and performing like they do. I also heard that Thiago’s eye sight is getting even worse and that he estimates by the end of 2016 he may be completely blind again. That means we will not be seeing him around anymore and his music career is in serious jeopardy.
So, any donation you can make to this cause would be greatly appreciated. Just to put one thing into perspective, if 250 people donated $100 each, we would reach our goal. I know it’s not likely that everyone will donate that much money but the more we can raise the merrier and the sooner we can make this surgery happen. If you cannot donate anything at least help us boost this go fund me project for him. I can also accept off-line donations that can be added into the pot.
We have a lot of really great friends in our scene and I’ve seen us do amazing things for people in the past but nothing at this level so far. I’m going to tag as many people as I can to start boosting this and I encourage every one of his friends and fans to tag as many people they can in the comments and repost this. It’s going to be tough but I believe we can make this happen and change his way of life.
On a side note; No one other than Thiago will be receiving this money. All proceeds will go to him and about 8% of each donation will be taken by GoFundMe for their fees.
