The Yarra Valley Railway reconstruction is Australia's largest volunteer community infrastructure project.
The Yarra Valley Railway have no paid staff and the project is being rebuilt by community volunteers.
When fully completed the Yarra Valley Railway will link the Yarra Valley two largest tourist towns, Healesville and Yarra Glen with a tourist heritage railway.
The benefits when completed are many including tourism experience, local economic growth and preserving local history.
The project has unanimous support from all the regions communities and groups.
In the last 12 months YVR have had over 500 individual volunteers from 10 different community organisations contribute over 50,000 volunteer hours.
Over 1000 local businesses have provided pro bono professional services, free materials and services to the project.
