Five years ago I felt fine and was working in a great job then one  Sunday morning in August I woke up and I couldn't breathe properly and when I went to get out of bed couldn't put weight on my left leg. Four hours later I was on the operating table. I was admitted to hospital  with pneumonia, that infected my blood and gave me septic arthritus in my knee. It required two knee wash out operations done only with local anesthetic. Not a lot of fun.  After28 days in hospital I recovered, and did a year of physio rehab before I could walk properly and  stand for more than five minutes without discomfort and pain. It is still not right and I have a limp due to the septic arthritus eating away the cartiledge in my knee.
A year later I was diagnosed with blood and bone marrow cancer which I am sure had its origins from my previous blood infection. After eighteen months of chemo and steroids, which was an absolute hell, the cancer went into remission. Thank God and my wonderful doctors and nurses at SCGH who looked after me durig my twice weekly visits for giving a blood sample and receiving the Valcade and steroid treatment.
However, Multiple Myeloma, does return eventually, it is just a matter of when, I am advised.
Consequently I am doing all I can to keep it at bay, eating properly, exercising,  trying to stay positive and steering away from the victim mentality and poor me mindset.
An off shoot of the cancer was that it destroyed my kidneys (Amaloidosis.) It is caused by the buildup of an abnormal protein called amyloid produced in your bone marrow and can be deposited in any tissue or organ. It occurs when your bone marrow produces abnormal antibodies that can't be broken down. The antibodies are deposited in your tissues as amyloid, interfering with normal function.
Consequently I was diagnosed with  chronic kidney failure. Eight months ago I began home peridontal dialysis, but six months in I got three infections contracting peritinitus which is the most horrid abdominal pain I have ever experienced. I had to have the tube taken out (another 5 days in hospital) as I was too far gone to continue. I now do regular haemo dialysis sessions  three times a week at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth. I asked a nurse what would happen if I stopped doing dialysis Her reply was rather sobering. "You would die within 2 weeks your lungs would fill up with fluid and you would drown". It has all been rather traumatic to say the least. I have also been hospitalised for regular iron infusions, blood transfusions, a fistula and dialysis line insertion operation, a hernia operation, and a haemorriodecetmy. Somehow through prayer, my defiant, resiliant spirit and the love of family and friends I have come through it all. To the point that recently for a couple of days a week I can almost feel normal again. I still get out of breath and cant walk fifty metres without resting. I qualify for an Acrod sticker. OK so I am an invalid on an invalid pension and it is a struggle to get by.  My parking for hospital visits is almost $70 per week, so $3,500 a year. My medication bill has a ceiling of $360. After that, it is free, which is a great help but it is only for perscription pharmas.  Any herbal remedies or naturpath supplies are all on me. I believe in the chemo and steroid treatment, however bad the side effects, but I also believe in natural medicines as well. I will try anthing to keep the cancer away, as the thought of more chemo and steroids is not something I want to welcome back into my life. I need assistance to pay for my parking during haemo dialysis hospital visits and for buying natural remedies to keep me in good health.
Any donation would be totally awesome and you will be blessed for your  compassion and kindness and who knows maybe one day I could do the same for you

God Bless, Peace and Love Buster x
