Lucky's Paralysis Treatment
Hello! My name is Kristina Risner and I am trying to raise money for my dog Lucky. Lucky has been battling Degenerative Disk Disease for the past year, and at this point, if I can not come up with the money to provide him with the appropriate surgery, I will have no choice but to put him down ): .
I took lucky in from a friend of a friend about 3 years ago, and he has been very happy living here! He is a great dog and very loving. We discovered after a few years of him living with us that he has degenerative disk disease. With his degenerative disk disease, it is so bad that if we continue this route that we are on (taking medicine), he will fall into paralysis. He already shows signs of paralysis as he has a very hard time walking, crosses his legs when he walks, and trips and falls a lot when he flares up (I will upload a video of Lucky walking the next time that he flares up).
I need to come up with this money as SOON as possible, but I think that if I can not collect the correct amount of money by July, then I will have no choice but to put him down.... Without the appropriate surgery, I can not continue to put Lucky through the pain that he goes through. I can not afford to handle the flare-ups that he even gets, as then I have to pay for vet costs and medicine. In addition, paralysis will become unavoidable and it will be so bad that he will have no control over his hind legs.
This would mean the world to me if I could save my dog, I love him so very much, he's the first dog that I've ever had!
My own research has shown that fenestation, decompression, or both surgeries would be the solution to this problem. I am currently waiting to hear back from multiple veterinarian clinics on the prices of the initial X-rays, which will then lead to the appropriate surgeries that they suggest. No matter which we choose, both will be extremely costly.
UPDATE: I have changed the goal to$500 as $500 is the initial amount that I need to get him seen. After I come up with the $500, I will then update the goal to reflect the appropriate surgery. ($500 will cover the X-rays, sedations, extra fees, etc.).
