Hello, my name is Tina-Marie Tanner and I am 8 years old. I am a 2nd grade student at Imagine Harrisburg Pike Community School, located at 680 Harrisburg Pike in Columbus, Ohio. I am a hardworking, ambitious, bright, and amazingly driven young lady. This school year alone, I have received two Character Awards for demonstrating the character values of Responsibility and Trustworthiness in my classroom and through the school.
I am currently the reigning 2015-2016 Princess of America Tiny Miss Ohio and the crowned 2016-2017 Princess of America Little Miss Ohio. In August I will be traveling to Branson, Missouri to compete at the National level for the prestigious title of Little Princess of America.
Let me tell you a little about Princess of America. Princess of America's tagline is "A Crown with a Cause". Princess of America likes to incorporate that philosophy into their program at both the state and national level. At the national level, Princess of America asks all the national delegates to make cards for our “Cards across the Country” project. This project was inspired by the movie "The Letter Writer". These cards should be words of encouragement that will be passed out by the newly crowned titleholders. The goal of this project is to brighten someone’s day. During the holidays this year, I worked with my Technology teacher to have the students in second through sixth grade create inspirational holiday cards to send to a little girl named Sa’fyre Terry who lost her family in a fire and was badly burned. I believe that no matter how big or small, an act of kindness can go a long way.
Each year, the ten national titleholders are required to raise funds and awareness for their chosen platforms throughout their reigns. Each national titleholder will have their platforms featured on one of the pages of our Princess of America calendars. These calendars are available for sale with a portion of the proceeds going to each girls’ chosen platform or "cause".
The platform that I have chosen focuses on preventing bullying, which I have a personal connection. I feel it is important to educate students throughout the country about the dangers of bullying. My platform is called “Project Stop, Look & Listen”. I have already delivered my platform to educate students about preventing bullying to the entire student body and parents at Imagine Harrisburg Pike in a school wide assembly. I have also presented an informational PowerPoint presentation about the signs of bullying and ways to prevent bullying to each of the fourteen classes in kindergarten through sixth grade. “Project Stop, Look & Listen” is a work in progress, all it really takes is one person to take the first stand. I am that person, not only as Tina-Marie Tanner, but as Princess of America Little Miss Ohio.
I am writing today to ask if your company would be interested in sponsoring me to get to Princess of America Nationals this year. Any monetary donation will help my cause and is tax deductible. My goal is to earn funding through company and personal sponsorships, as well as selling candy bars on my own. All sponsors who make a contribution will be listed in the Princess of America National Program book, which will be distributed at Nationals.
I am a little girl with big dreams! I can’t change the world in one day, but with beginning with myself I can take the first steps to change. I have a goal in mind for August, to bring the National title to Ohio. Although, if I do not capture the National title, I will have earned more knowledge from other sister queens, along with lasting friendships. In addition, this experience will help me to build more self-confidence and promote the belief that it takes only one person to begin change.
On a final note I am the only one to Nationals to represent Ohio. So I'm so proud an honored to be your state queen.
