Funeral Costs-Donna Toepfer's son

Donation protected
My name is Lisa Smith and I am setting this up for my sister-in-law, Donna Toepfer, who has gone through what no parent should ever have to, the lost of a child.
On May 4, 2016 Donna's son Alex died of a heroin overdose.  I have started this page to help her pay for the funeral expenses and also to raise awareness of this very real epidemic that has effected many families.

Here is her story:

Below is what she posted on May 4, when Alex died:

“Today at 11:10 I walked out of the hospital room because the coroner was there to take my youngest son Alexander Steven Toepfer - I couldn't save him and he died sometime before I checked on him before I went to work.  Started CPR and when the officer came she took over and I did the breath - once the ambulance came they just got him out and rushed to the hospital but it was too late.  Today at 11:10 I kissed my son goodbye for the last time - today at 11:10 I stroked his hair for the last time - today at 11:10 I saw my baby for the last time.”

I also posted this for a mother who has a son on heroin:

“My advice you just love them for who they are - you encourage them - you don't judge them they are already judging themselves - you hope for the best and you just be their mom.  It doesn't make his death any easier but because I did those things above - I know that when he died he knew he was loved.  Going to his doctors weekly - we had picnics and we found the best pizza place in the world - even  though it was doctor’s appointments - we were able to make memories that would last.  Keep the lines of communication open - believe or not they will talk about their addiction and how it makes them feel - as a mother you cringe and want to put them in a bubble / but you listen and talk and learn more about drugs than you ever wanted to - but at this moment it is a part of them and therefore it is a part of your life.  Just love them and let them know all the time how much you love them

Memories are made even during the darkest time - find the light find the love because in the end that's what counts!”

The money raised will pay for the funeral expenses.  This will mean so much to her as I know she does not have the money to pay for this.   A friend of Donna's put the cost on their credit card so she could have the funeral.  This money will go to pay that off.  Currently, I have raised donations from work colleages and friends in the amount of $1,000.  The funeral was $8,500, so now she is trying to come up with the balance of $7,500.  Donna expresses her thanks again for all the love and support she has received from everyone.

Donna will be extremely thankful and appreciative for any help you can give.
