Help for Victoria

My mother, Victoria Young, a 67 year-old woman was viciously attacked by a dog while walking from her apartment in West Fresno to the Mary Eloa Brown senior center Monday, just after 11 a.m. A Pitbull that was not leashed, attacked her from behind; she never saw it coming. The force of the hit and subsequent bite to the leg caused her to become faint and lose her balance.

She ended up falling backwards and catching herself with her hands and arms. After the dog owner got the dog off of her, he told her he was sorry, but couldn’t stay or they would put his dog down. He left her there with two broken arms and no way to help herself.  He ignored her request to please call 911. Fortunately, a good Samaritan called an ambulance and she stayed with her until help arrived.

The next day my mother received surgeries on both arms, doctors placed metal plates and stints in order to align and secure her bones. Though she is resting, she will need months of physical therapy to recover from this brutal attack, if full recovery at her age is even possible.

Since the incident, some people have told me that no one will care, that bad things happen every day.  I'm hoping that isn't true.  My mother is not a person of means. That's part of why she was willing to make the walk to the senior center for a free lunch.  Please help my mother by providing support. Every little bit will make a difference.  At this point we are unsure what assistance she may be elegible to receive.  At this point, her bigger concerns are figuring out how to feed herself and learning to use her hands with the stints in both arms. Thank you.
