Cliff Bennett Fundraiser

$19,785 of $5,000 goal

My father-in-law, Cliff Bennett, is the preveous owner of Chet's Garden Center in downtown Grants Pass, Oregon and a huge part of giving to our community.  In October 2015 Cliff suffered a massive stroke which has disabled him. He can not walk and is limited to very few words, therefore; he is unable to work at he and his wife, Roxanne's, small family business.  When Cliff and Roxanne moved to Brookings, Oregon to make a fresh new start relocating Chet's Garden Center we never imagined something like this would happen.  Unfortunately they could not afford insurance like many hard working Americans, and are now dealing with an overwhelming overflow of bills.  For those of you who know Cliff you can imagine how devastating this is for him, his family, friends, and his business that relies on him and his experience.  Any donation large or small that can help pay bills since Cliff is out of work would mean the world to Roxanne Bennett, who is now dealing with the hardships that come along with a tragedy such as this.  After everything Cliff Bennett has done for our little community, let's show him how much he means to us all and ruturn the favor. Thank you and please spread the word and share our story.       Katie Bennett

We took a family trip to the coast to see Cliff and Roxanne. Cliff is doing better every time we see him. When we walked in their house he was standing with just a cane waiting to greet us, it was awesome. It's still a little challenging having a conversation with Cliff but we can usually figure out what he's trying to say. He is working very hard every day and that much is obvious. I can't express how much all the support means to Cliff, Roxanne, Travis and myself. Thank you,
Katie Bennett

We went to see Cliff on Sunday. He was in good spirits and even smiled for a quick pic. I was amazed at how quick and easy ( compared to the last time I saw him) he got up the steps with his walker. The speech is still a little iffy, but just like any other person we have our good days and bad days. I know with much patience and dedication Cliff will reach any goal he sets for himsel, with Roxanne by his side. Love to everyone who have reached out to the Bennett Family.

We took a trip to the coast on Sunday to see Cliff. He is doing really really good on his walker, however, he is a terrible wheelchair driver-Watch out!! His speech still isn't much better but if we can't quite understand him he can jot a few words down with his left hand. The good news is he went home Monday and that seems to be waking him up. He is getting more fiesty and stubborn every day, so in other words he is more himself every day. Only good things to come. Thank you everyone for all your much needed support!

Went to the coast to see Cliff and Roxanne today. In Roxanne's words, she would like to say some things#

Cliff has been making steady progress since his stroke on October 20th, 2015. He is getting use to the walker and he and I are allowed to walk together without a wheelchair. For the most part he has been cheerful and up beat. Many people in Grants Pass, Brookings, and the Pacific Northwest have been very supportive with prayers and emotional support. The inspiration that people have given us has helped us to deal with this life changing situation. We are soo grateful for all the contributions that have come to us and our future is getting strong and more hopeful. Many days have been difficult and very challenging but because of the outpour of concern and love we have been able to make our way through. We also need to thank our family members, neighbors ( old and new), for their love, hope and encouragement. Cliff means so much to so many people and his spirit has been strong. Everyone will be very proud of him and he will show you that he can make it.
Much love and many thank you's,
Roxanne Bennett, Cliff's wife.

This is awesome. I enjoyed seeing the photo of Cliff, even though he is sitting in a wheelchair, he looks like he is there just temporarily. All of us who know and love him know he will continue to work hard to be best version of himself and will never stop his recovery process. We are so grateful for your updates. Thanks so much Katie and Travis!

Aww, Katie, he's looking good. So glad to see that. Going home probably helped! I hope Roxanne has help. I'm sure this has been at least as hard on her as on him. Thanks for the updates.

So happy to hear more about Cliffs progress. Im living in California now. But the 8 years I was in Grants Pass I was treated well at the nursery. Cliff was the go to guy for the Grants Pass garden fanatics. he was always committed to community things. He gave support to The Kids Garden Project at Fruitdale Elementary School. I was createor and supervisor of that project for almost 5 years. Cliff was always there for me.
