WHISPERS | A concrete sculpture created to enlighten and affirm the severity of Postpartum Depression
The Healthy Kent Perinatal Mood Disorders Coalition in partnership with MomsBloom is making flowers for donations to go towards the purchase of the “Whispers” sculpture. The ArtPrize sculpture will be placed in a location that will be a blessing to women who are struggling with a Perinatal Mood Disorder. The sculpture will bring public awareness to Perinatal Mood Disorders. It is the desire of the Kent County Coalition that all new moms will know they are not alone and with treatment they will be well.
For a suggested minimum donation of $10 you are
invited to wear a flower. The flowers will bring further awareness to Mental Health, Perinatal Mood Disorders and to reduce stigma.
Please consider making a donation. The sculpture will be purchased and placed in a location that will be a blessing to women who are struggling.

Whispers is a three-dimensional concrete and copper sculpture to enlighten and affirm the severity of Postpartum Depression.
You may notice the mother does not hold her baby close. She wants to, but she is guarded, almost cautious. She is struggling not to listen to the negative voices…whispers in her mind. She is bewildered and living in a whirl of what is real in her mind and what is expected from her. Trying her very best to be a good mother to her new baby, but not feeling grounded or good about herself...trying to keep her balance…so much going on. Pleading to God/the Heavens/Buddha, anyone or anything for help with this child. Everyday, hour, minute…second, she is struggling. Asking herself "What is wrong with me?" She feels inadequate, like a failure, ashamed, guilty…she is sinking deep into hopelessness and sadness. "I just want to take care of my baby…why can't I just be?":
