Hi, my name is Laurie. I am trying to raise funds for Connor and his family as he battles pineoblastoma - a rare, aggressive brain cancer. Connor is an awesome 8 year old boy who has his own ConArmy, as he soldiers through his battle with cancer. I am honored to be a part of his ConArmy. Connor's mom Amy is my best friend, and is essentially a second sister to me. After conversations with her, I was struck by two things. First, I wanted to help the family however I could, and secondly, I was reminded why I dislike managed care and health insurance companies. To be told that your child couldn't get the one medicine he needs to help with his white blood cell count ... or that in two days you needed to come up with $5,000 (long story short they didn't have to) for a necessary proceedure ... must have been frustrating and sickining. It was at that moment, that I figured out how I could help, and hopefully, you can too!
I'd like to establish a fund for Connor, Amy, Rich, and younger brother Dylan to use however they need. From copays for needed medication, a reserve fund for proceedures, to daily expenses of traveling to and from Boston for radiation and chemotherapy, I'd like them to not have to sress about finances. Daily finances combined with cancer treatment related costs must be crazy.
I love that all money raised on this site goes directly to them! I want Amy to be able to get a cup of coffee on her daily treks to Boston. I want Rich to be able to order in take-out on a night that Connor actually has an appetite for a family movie night! Cancer doesn't just affect Connor ... but Amy, Rich, and even Dylan ... the little guy who might feel overshaddowed by what his big brother is going through. Maybe Dylan and Rich will have a special "boys day out" ... let's help them do this! Let's build this fund so that this amazing family can breath a little easier and do things that they need and want during this time.
