Help us celebrate 10 years of KidWind Challenges!
We've come a long way from those two local events in our inaugural season. In 2008, we were blown away at the nearly 50 upstate New York students that showed up. This passed year, 10 times that showed up to the Windy City to compete in the National KidWind Challenge - and blew the doors off the place.

We have some ambitious plans for our 2018–19 season! This year we are aiming for:
- 40 State-level KidWind Challenges in 25 states
- 40 Educator Training Events
- 1,000 teachers trained in 35 states
- $75,000+ in classroom wind energy equipment donations
- New KidWind State Challenges in Texas, Georgia, Delaware, and Hawaii
These exciting local events will culminate in our 5th annual National KidWind Challenge, held from May 20 - 23, at the AWEA WINDPOWER expo in Houston, Texas. There, 500 students, parents and coaches will rub elbows with the pros at the ultimate wind energy party.

Want to be part of this exciting endeavor? As you can imagine, making all of this happens is expensive! From travel and prizes to staffing and equipment, we need some help to make this year the best yet.
We're hoping to raise $300,000 for the 2019 season. While we have secured nearly $200K in funding from our corporate and programmatic supporters, we are still a bit short of our anticipated expenses.
Why 300K?
$160K for our 40 State KidWind Challenge Events ($4000/event)
$80K for our 40 Coaches Workshops w/Gear ($2000/event)
$60K for our 2019 National KidWind Challenge
You can't learn to think out of the box from a desk; you can't learn to invent from a textbook. The next generation of wind and solar pioneers need to be able to play, to build, to explore, to experiment. Help KidWind build a wind and solar playground for these bright and inspiring students.
