The Creative Writing MFA program at Louisiana State University is excited to announce the 2020 Delta Mouth Literary Festival!
Completely free and open to the public, the festival this year will be held April 3rd-5th. We’re proud to welcome an impressive lineup of writers including Candice Wuehle, Eric Baus, Emma Copley Eisenberg, Myung Mi Kim, Skye Jackson, Karin-Lin Greenberg, Ally Glass-Katz, and Ayokunle Falomo.
Since 2009, the annual Delta Mouth Literary Festival has been a flagship event for the literary arts in Baton Rouge. In partnership with Louisiana State University, The Southern Review, New Delta Review, and the English Graduate Student Association, we bring nationally acclaimed writers and artists to Baton Rouge for a three-day public event that includes readings, panels, food, drinks, and music.
In previous years, we’ve hosted such literary luminaries as Jami Attenberg, Kate Bernheimer, Lilian-Yvonne Bertram, Christian Bök, Blake Butler, Jos Charles, Chen Chen, Kate Durbin, Siaara Freeman, Lily Hoang, Cathy Park Hong, Douglas Kearney, Wayne Koestenbaum, R. O. Kwon, Dorothea Lasky, Kiese Laymon, Maurice Carlos Ruffin, Carmen Maria Machado, Ben Marcus, Hoa Nguyen, Alissa Nutting, Akilah Oliver, Ronaldo Wilson, and Jenny Zhang. Our readers have been finalists for the National Book Award, Pushcart Prize winners, Guggenheim fellows, and recipients of the prestigious Whiting Award.
Now in its eleventh year, the Delta Mouth Literary Festival is an entirely student-run effort, made possible by generous donations from local businesses, arts organizations, publications, and individual patrons of the arts like you! 100% of the funds we raise go toward paying modest honorariums to our featured authors, securing event spaces, and providing food and drinks at all of our events. Join us in enriching the Baton Rouge arts scene and in celebrating Louisiana’s literary culture by attending and supporting the 2020 Delta Mouth Literary Festival.
