Pain is real. But so is hope.

"I can't remember the last time someone told me they loved me, appreciate me or that they care. I don't trust people. I don't know how." - Teen, Stories of Hope

The quote above was written by a student in Little Rock, Arkansas as part of her story submission for Stories of Hope. Many of us just like her, go through so much in life, which is why I'm preparing to give copies of Hope Outside the Walls and Stories of Hope to parents and teens throughout Arkansas, and I need YOUR help.

The stories captured in both books were submitted for publishing through my Writing for the Soul Workshop™ program. Like the caterpillar whose cathartic change becomes the most beautiful of butterflies, these books will leave those who read them inspired and changed, like all those who penned them.

Here's a testimonial from a student in Arkansas after experiencing my Writing for the Soul Workshop program:

“I thought you guys was some big group that just does events in small towns like Marianna for attention. My attitude was that they are just gonna run us through with the, ‘you can be anything speech’ and tell us some sappy story of someone else. WRONG!!!! Writing for the Soul Workshop brought life back into my passion for words and my outlook on my life. Thank you!”

There are millions of reasons why you should donate to support my cause, but for now here's two:

1. A student’s mental health is more important than their grades. Exposure to our writing program and books helps them to process what they’re going through and help them to make Emotionally Intelligent decisions.

2. Our books help individuals to deal with life on life’s terms. The reader learns that they are not alone. Many of them stop cutting, bullying, using drugs to cope and so much more. Our writing program and books have prevented teen suicides and healed families.

Stories of Hope and Hope Outside the Walls is emotional nutrition, and a must have for countless Arkansans around the state living in poverty or struggling to recover from a traumatic life event. When I first created this campaign, my target audience were teens living in at-risk communities in the Top Ten Most Dangerous Cities over 200,000 in the US. However, during our Summer programs here at home, the request for books by participants and parents who couldn’t afford them was overwhelming.

My name is Eric Jones, creator of Writing for the Soul Workshop™ located in beautiful downtown North Little Rock inside of the The Innovation Hub. My first participants were Crips and Bloods living in Kansas City where I first began offering the program.  It wasn’t the differences that brought them together, it was the pain.  Watching them write for me made me realize this one thing …writing could actually, literally, set them free. See for yourself:

To give away 10,000 books, I will need the following in funding:

$37,200 for Books

Total: $37,200 ($3.72 covers the cost of 1 Book)

For your donation of any amount, you’ll receive your choice of a free Hope Outside the Walls or Stories of Hope eBook.

This summer, I raised $734! This allowed me to give away 200 books to youth throughout the cities of Little Rock, North Little Rock and Marianna here in Arkansas. I am grateful for donors like Corey Foreman pictured below (center) for believing in my vission.

No one is born "bad." Hurting people hurt people. Be a part of my Writing for the Soul process by making a donation today. You can learn more about my life's work at: www.writingforthesoulworkshop.org .
