Border Star 2017 MMUN Fundraiser

$37,450 of $43,000 goal

Raised by 55 people in 27 months
Border Star Montessori is a Kansas City Missouri Public Signature School located in the heart of Brookside.

Each year, many of the 6th grade students take an important trip to New York City to participate in the Montessori Model United Nations  program for one week.

The costs associated with such an important program can be quite high for many of our school families, so this fundraiser has been created.

Our goal will be to raise $35,000 through this platform as well as through local fundraisers throughout the coming year.

Please follow our fundraiser to keep up to date on our progress, to hear about our local events and to learn more about what these amazing kids will get to experience as a result of their hard work and determination.

Many of the students will be checking in and updating you on this platform, so please share with your friends and family and show them how strong our community is in our dedication to seeing these kids succeed.

One final comment and that is if we exceed our expected goal, the funds will then roll over to support the 2018 group, so help us also to pay it forward.

With Respect,
Angie Lile

Our 6th graders have returned from a very successful trip to New York City where they attended Montessori Model United Nations as delegates from Russia and Japan.

Two of our students were selected to speak in front of the entire General Assembly!

We are very thankful to Kansas City Public Schools for providing such an enriching and enlightening real-world experience for our students. This is what makes our public schools great!

We are also very thankful to all of our donors who helped us make this happen. You'll forever be a part of our experience and we appreciate you!
Thanks to all who made this happen!

We have had a lot of donations being mailed in to us, and the occasional donation online so between donations and what parents have to pay in fees, we are confident no child will be left behind on this trip.

Airfare is booked, hotel is reserved and the kids are working on their speeches. We are very excited! Thank you all so much for your support. We'll keep putting updates out as often as we can.

Last night, six of our students did a terrific job of presenting the Montessori Model United Nations program to over 100 people at our local Town Hall Event to break down the ballot issues.

Not only did they do a great job of presenting, but they represented our school with maturity and class by helping to hand out programs as well as listen to the many ballot issues that were discussed.

We hope you'll enjoy this video recap and give our students a round of applause by sharing it with your friends!

We have a real treat for you today! Nine of our 28 students presented to the monthly Southtown Luncheon on October 19th. The room was full of business owners and organizations who were all incredibly impressed with the presentation.

We encourage you to watch it and see just how involved the work is for our students!

We'll be presenting again at the Informational Town Hall to Break Down the Ballot on November 1st at the Keystone Church at 6pm. Come out and see them in action!

As always, thank you very much for sharing this amazing program with all of your friends. If you know anyone who would like to tour our school and see the students' work personally, please let me know.
