2017 Eagle County Adopt a Trail

In 2016 the Vail Valley Mountain Bike Association launched the Eagle County Adopt a Trail Program in partnership with the Eagle-Holy Cross Ranger District to create a program that would allow volunteers to take care of trails that are near and dear to their hearts. Utilizing volunteer groups to do basic trail maintenance frees up the understaffed Forest Service Trail crew to work on more remote and technical trail projects on our public lands. The end result is that more miles of trail are better taken care of in our community.

In just 90 short days the community came together to raise over $60,000- to launch the 2016 Eagle County Adopt a Trail Program. This generous leap of faith by our benefactors was rewarded with an amazing first year.

The response from volunteers was amazing and as a result 29 trails were adopted accounting for 120 miles of trail on Forest Service lands. Over 400 volunteers participated in the program logging over 1400 hours taking care of the time on the trails.

For 2017 the Adopt a Trail program seeks to expand by 30% adding trails on other public lands. There is no dedicated funding source for soft surface trails in Eagle County. Hence the need for this program. To fund the program VVMBA is looking raise $48,500 to fund a seasonal Forest Service Ranger, an independent coordinator and other program costs for the next 2 years.

Please give back to the trails you love by donating to the Eagle County Adopt-a-Trail program lead by the Vail Valley Mountain Bike Association (VVMBA). 100% of contributions will be funded directly to this program with zero administrative/overhead cost burden.

VVMBA is a chapter of the International Mountain Bike Association and your donation is tax deductible. We are a 501c-3 organization.
