2016 Earhart to DI Global Finals
2016 Destination Imagination Global Finals
Knoxville, Tennessee | May 25-28, 2016
Five Amelia Earhart Elementary students, known as DI to the 5th Power, have advanced to the 2016 Destination Imagination (DI) Global Finals competition in Knoxville, Tennessee, on May 25-28. They are thrilled for this opportunity and are ready to demonstrate their talents while representing Alameda, CA, at this international competition.
DI is a creative problem solving competition in which student teams create a solution to an improvisational, technical, scientific, service learning, or artistic/fine arts challenge. DI to the 5th Power will present their team solution in a 4 minute improvisational skit that they will prepare only minutes before presenting. The competition is fierce, but this Earhart DI team has been preparing since October, meeting after school and on the weekends, and they are ready to showcase their work.
We Need You
It's a huge honor for this team to be selected to compete at Global Finals after placing at the regional and state levels, but the teams can't go onto Globals without YOU!
The students must raise funds to pay for their registration fees, airfare and ground transportation, and food and accommodations in Tennessee. With only a few weeks to go until Globals, the pressure is on. We're planning several community fundraisers to cover the trip costs. We've set our GoFundMe page goal at $10,000 -- this amount and the fundraising targets for the other events will get us closer to our total goal.
We invite you to share in our experience by making a tax deductible contribution. Any amount is appreciated.
Thank you for supporting these young, creative minds--the next generation of innovators and leaders!
Congratulations to the students advancing to Global Finals!
