2016 Point in Time Count Meal Cards
What is the Point in Time Count (PIT)?
The PIT is a national, annual census and survey of the homeless population. The information collected during the PIT is used to help assess how we are doing as a community, and as a nation, to address the needs of people experiencing homelessness.
Every year on the fourth Wednesday in January, hundreds of volunteers canvas the streets in the pre-dawn hours of the cold morning to survey homeless individuals. It is ideal if we are able to provide these folks with a $5 meal card for a hot breakfast - something that they can go and order at the time of their choosing, and the selection of their choosing, from a local restaurant - a very dignifying experience.
However, for the nearly 1500 literally homeless folks that we encounter to survey, the cost of that many small gift cards is outside of the scope of any of our existing grants.
Your small donation would help to provide those cards - plus a hot meal and a small slice of dignity - to our homeless population!
Please help today by making a donation in any amount; as little as $1 will make a difference!
