Help Black/Latina Historian Director Share Stories

Donation protected
Just a girl from the projects trying to create a platform for OUR stories ❤️ For years now I have studied history and worked as a writer, curating stories that illuminate, dismantle and bring joy. Since I was a child I wanted to make movies. I’ve worked my whole life towards this goal, studying history so that my stories could be more in depth and releasing my first film in 2017 about police brutality. I myself have lived through homelessness, sexual abuse, trafficking, police assault and racism- but I understand how our stories can both heal and demonstrate beauty and how we aren’t just our pain. For this, I have continued to work through these circumstances. I believe stories can change people’s lives. As a child of an immigrant, a New York native and someone who grew in the intense shadow of poverty I saw firsthand how films could reach wider audiences. Now, I have the opportunity to to go to film school (A Masters in Film Directing) abroad. In my application I wrote of the power in people reclaiming their own stories. It’s an amazing program that would give me the network and skills to shape and understand my craft, but I need your help. I was accepted into the program a mere weeks before the start date and I need to accommodate funds for an expedited visa, accommodation and travel- anything offered would be greatly appreciated as I believe truly that if I enter this program I would be able to accomplish my life’s purpose. Thank you.
