This page has been set up in the aim to help our Muslim brother ; my father’s childhood best friend Zahid, who is going through a heartbreaking struggling alongside his family in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
He has known Zahid for over 20 years, since he was a teenage boy. Laughed with him, cried with him and learnt from him.
Unfortunately, his life has been turned upside down due to a dishonest business partner who scammed Zahid out of his money, job and home.
It has recently come to light Zahid was involved with an individual who was extremely dishonest in regards to a business investment. He acted as an equal partner and took Zahid’s money and left him with nothing.
Since then Zahid has been struggling with funds, borrowing money and taking out loans, increasing the debts against his name, in a way to make up for the money he has lost.
Since this time, Zahid has left his job, family home and abandoned his old self, allowing depression to take over. Individuals who are owed money have made threats against Zahid and his family members, waiting outside his home and even making steps to target his children at the end of the school day.
Complaints have been lodged with Police but still no action has been taken which resulted in one of his daughters being taken and held for ransom money.
Not only have these debts effected Zahid but they’re effecting the safety of his children and family, putting their lives in danger.
My father’s friend was once a man who was a qualified professor, specializing in Maths, Science, Physics and Chemistry, a talented, trustworthy Muslim man.
He has provided for his family for the last 20 years through this, but since this betrayal and the losses he has faced in the life, he doesn’t recognize himself anymore.
His current situation shows him currently living with his parents alongside his two daughters and his wife. He is in a huge debt after losing his investment money, and has left his job teaching due to not being able to freely roam and travel as he is in fear of being approached by loan sharks and hasslers. He has barely enough money to purchase food, or travel to his job as well as his children’s schools. His two daughters who are currently studying may be unable to complete their studies due to the family not being able to pay their education fees.
Zahid is heartbroken and feels completely useless, allowing depression to set in and deepen his self hate.
I created this page to raise awareness on my friends situation and attempt to raise some sort of support for his cause, if we raise funds, no matter how little or large, they will create great changes for his family and himself inshallah.
With the funds raised, we aim to focus on clearing the debts that Zahid’s name is attached too, as well as beginning to start his life off again from the basics, inshallah.
We hope to build solid foundations so Zahid can see there is hope and allow support to be offered to his family through supplies and food being purchased, inshallah.
If we can come together as an Ummah and support our brother and allow him to recover and walk the right path he was once on then it would be wonderful, inshallah.
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is no day on which the people get up but two angels come down and one of them says, ‘O Allah, give in compensation to the one who spends (in charity),’ and the other says, ‘O Allaah, destroy the one who withholds.’” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1374; Muslim, 1010.
