Help For Laura
Hi everyone, My Mom has swallowed her pride and asked if I would create this page, in order to help her get her head above water financially. As most of you may know, my Dad's Alzheimer's has progressed quite rapidly over the last few years...along with his other health issues (diabetes, triple bypass heart surgery, multiple strokes, etc.). Since he is no longer able to care for himself, the doctors permanently placed in a nursing home last year, but Medicaid will only cover a portion in order to keep him there. My Mom has to pay $1,200 every month in order for him to stay there, so she has had a beyond difficult time being able to make ends meet with paying all of her other necessary bills and every day expenses such as gas, groceries, her medications, etc. She is trying to see if she can have him transferred from the nursing home in Frankenmuth, to another place that is much cheaper. However, in the meantime...his large nursing home expense has caused her to fall behind considerably. She is worried to death that she might lose her car, get behind on her own rent, go without medication she needs, etc. She only wanted to do this as a very last resort because she is very prideful and didn't want anyone to think she is looking for a handout. She has been trying to keep her head above water for the past few years, and has just struggled through it without saying a word or expecting sympathy...but after she had to start paying that enormous nursing home payment a few months ago, she is now to the point where she needs real help. She specifically said she doesn't want to be a charity case, and is embarrassed to her core...but just needs a little help to dig her out of this hole. She said all she needs is help getting caught up until she is able to move my Dad to a more affordable nursing home. Our family has been put through the wringer ever since my Dad became so ill, and even with our help...it has just become too much for my Mom to endure on her own. As she said, she is not looking for people to 'bail her out' or give her a lot, because she is not one to reach out for help unless it's absolutely necessary. She is just desperately hoping to get a little bit of the weight lifted off her shoulders that she has been carrying for 3-4 years now. She doesn't even want to put a "goal amount" because she doesn't want to come across as greedy, so we're just making up a random number because it makes you give an amount. If anyone is able and willing to help her out at all, it would mean more than you know. She has been the rock in our family all our lives and has always taken care of everyone else before herself. She has always been a homemaker, raising her 5 kids...with my Dad working and handling the bills. Since his rapid decline, she has taken on the roll of trying to handle all of the money, being his caretaker...all while enduring her own health issues and struggles. Now at 70 years old, we hate to see her struggling like this, and just hope to help her get back on her feet. If she could get even a little bit of help toward the cost of my Dad's nursing home expenses until she's able to transfer him somewhere more affordable, it will be a blessing that she and our family will pay forward for a lifetime. ❤ We also ask that you please do not share this on your page, as we would like to keep it within our own friends and family.
