Help Kaoy Saechao Beat Cancer

Donation protected
Thanks for Showing Up : )

Kaoy has faced and conquered many challenges in her life. She’s now confronting her greatest challenge to date, and many difficulties lie ahead for her.

Kaoy, who is only 39 years old, was recently diagnosed with cancer. The doctors describe it as Stage 4 lung cancer that has spread to her brain.

The doctors have suggested to Kaoy that she has little time to live. They have recommended the conventional course of treatment including chemo and radiation, but Kaoy’s research suggests this alone will not likely save her, and these treatments alone don’t align with her understanding of alternative therapies which she is now undertaking at home.

Kaoy has learned throughout her life to fight and endure. She hasn’t given up before, and she’s not ready to give up now.

Kaoy immigrated to Canada as a child after her family fled violence in the remote villages of Thailand during the Cold War. Prior to giving birth to Kaoy, her mother survived the massacre of her entire village in the hills of Thailand, after which time she was sold into slavery. Kaoy was born within this chaos and it taught her the will to survive.

Eventually, Kaoy and her family were able to escape and flee to Canada — the country they’ve gratefully called home ever since. In Canada, they built their lives through hard work and compassion for others. Growing up, Kaoy helped support her family and household and dedicated her life to helping others around her.

At 21, Kaoy became a single mother. Kaoy raised her son, Jordan, while working and completing her RPN degree. Kaoy became a nurse so she could dedicate her life to helping others in need.

Kaoy seized her opportunity in Canada and ran with it. She built a happy life with her son and eventually became engaged to Kyle O’Brien. Earlier this spring, life couldn’t have been better.

In May 2019, everything changed.

Kaoy started to feel ill. She began having respiratory problems and severe headaches. After numerous hospital visits over a four-week period, doctors struggled to find the cause and thought it might be pneumonia. However, her symptoms continued to worsen.

One day, Kaoy’s son Jordan found her unconscious.  She was unresponsive and he immediately called 911 emergency line. Kaoy was admitted into intensive care and after a few days, test results revealed the shocking news of her adenocarcinoma cancer. (She was doubly surprised because she’s never been a smoker.)

After much research and deliberation with her fiance and family, Kaoy has chosen to seek a treatment that will offer a much better chance of success.  The Chipsa Hospital in Mexico is a facility that applies a complex regimen including Gerson Therapy along with other alternative and traditional cancer treatments in a holistic program.  This therapy has been used since 1979 to successfully treat cancer and other diseases.  Kaoy has chosen this treatment because she has no other choices available to her in Canada.

What You Can Do To Support Kaoy

Kyle & Kaoy are asking for any type of assistance. For those who cannot donate money or time, we will gladly receive your thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement.

Donations - If you are able, monetary donations will go towards Kaoy’s treatment, accommodations, travel, medicine, food, mortgage, utilities, and property taxes as both Kaoy and Kyle will not be working. The money would also be used to cover some of the costs for family to be by her side through this process.  Renovations for Kaoy’s living environment will also be supported with the donations.

Labour – Just as valuable as money is time. If you are in the vicinity of Kaoy and Kyle, they will be working on renovating her environment – so a donation of time and services can help with creating the space and comfort needed to support Kaoy. Any and all help will be accepted as they construct a new space for healing.

Prayers – We understand that not everyone can support with money or time, but all prayers, words of encouragement, and mindful energy can be written, verbalized, or meditated on. Kyle and Kaoy are steadfast believers in the strength that people can give to each other through simple words and gestures.

Thank you for any help that you are able to provide – big or small – it’s all a cherished contribution to a happy ending to an amazing story.
