RUNNING! for Rowan!
This fundraiser was originally set up two years ago. Together you helped me raise close to $2000.00 for Rowan when she was first diagnosed and going through her surgeries. Now, she is back in the hospital and the Wilms is back, she will begin aggressive chemotherapy as an inpatient. This family has felt your outpouring and love, and they still need your help! I have now completed over 30 half marathons and this little girls fight helps inspire me through my painful miles. I have a few more marathons to "run" before heading back into surgery this winter and would love your help to continue to sponsor this family. I will run and pray through the miles, and if you can do the same and give whatever amount possible it would be appreciated.
Here is my story and why Rowan means so much to me.
This is my original post from two years ago.
On October 8th, 2011 I was run over by a freight truck while cycling. I have been an athlete most of my life, and in the blink of an eye my life was changed forever. Over a year later my body is full of scars, but I am alive and because of the love and generosity of my friends, family, and the healing power of God I am here. My pelvis was snapped into two pieces, and my hips pulled through my body, my leg was badly degloved, along with my stomach, and lower back. On February 24th, I will run a half marathon with friends and my dear husband. I will run slowly, but consistent in belief that like all trauma it takes a fighting warrior to survive.
Little Rowan now has scars, much like me.. and her smile is contagious and courageous. My prayer is that by next year, Rowan will be running again.. and her body will be healed. Her family needs the support of your prayers, and whatever financial means you can offer. The stress of being ill is enough, compiled with medical bills it can cause far too much pain and stress, when the main focus needs to be on getting through the challenges and healing.
All funds will go directly towards helping this smart little soul and her beautiful family during these trying months ahead. You have all done so much for me, and I'm so thankful to keep giving back in every way I can. Let's send up some light and love for Rowan."
If anyone wants to make any final contributions to Rowan, please do. I am closing the account Sunday for her mother. Here is her recent post about Rowans status: Week 12 of chemotherapy begins today. Rowan is fighting hard and fighting well. Spring is around the corner now, and although we still have a little ways to go.. it is starting to feel like there is light at the end of this tunnel; that this journey through cancer will come to an end. Please keep your prayers and thoughts and wishes flowing towards Rowan and her family.
