Get Mom Home!

On Thursday June 6th, I was on a flight to Puerto Rico with my family for a surprise vacation my mom had been planning for months. An hour and a half in to the flight my mom wasn’t feeling too well and headed to the bathroom. A bit later a man found her unconscious in the bathroom and immediately flagged down a flight attendant and in that moment our world stood still. We then had to emergency land in Charlotte, North Carolina, where we have been for the last 9 days. These days have consisted of long hours spent in waiting rooms and seeing the hardships our mom has had to endure praying that we would wake up from a horrible nightmare. Our nights have been spent wondering what we can do as we relive our mom being poked and prodded by a medical team, trying to make sense of what has happened. We shuttle back and forth between the hospital and our hotel only for meals and sleep. Brian, our stepdad, has stayed by our moms side every minute. Family has come to help Brian care for us and give him a chance to rest as well. The doctors are still unsure of what caused the episode, but are treating as a stroke. This means weeks/months of rehab in a facility. We need to get our mom closer to home to get the care she needs. Our mom is our best friend and the most selfless person we know, so we are trying to help her in her time of need. We have found an organization that does medical transports and can help us get our mom in a closer proximity to home! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
