Blaes Family Home Items Flood Damage Repair Needs

My dear friends and business partners, Michael and Teresa Blaes and their daughter, Mandy were eating lunch at a restaurant on May 5. About 1 pm, Michael received a call on his phone from one of his friends, who frantically told him that there was water all over his house. Michael rushed home to find that a pipe had burst and there was about 3 inches of water all over his home. He was devastated.
Michael contacted his Landlord and his Landlord immediately started to take control of things, getting a plumber and having the Blaes Family relocate to a hotel. Since then they have been in the hotel for the past 11 days. Its been difficult and frustrating for them at times.
Living in a hotel can be expensive and their finances have been stretched. Several have blessed them with food and some funds, which has helped. Once their home cleaning started, they found out their box springs had mold on them along with their headboard and mirror. Their cat tree had to be thrown out, as well. They don’t know what else has been damaged because the cleaning process is ongoing. They are anticipating about $2000 of damage.
Unfortunately, the Blaes family do not have rental insurance. Michael was in the process of getting it when the flood happened. Now they are uninsurable. They are still not in their home. Last night their cleaning person discovered another leak, and all of the tile in their bathroom will probably have to pulled up and replaced after the plumber stops the leak. So its ongoing.
