Thyroid Cancer

About 4 years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer in my right thyroid. I had been going through tests and ultrasounds to monitor 5 small tumors between both thyroid glands. That is when the doctors discovered that my right thyroid was a goiter (an enlarged thyroid gland). Unfortunately, it grew rapidly and turned into cancer.
I went in for surgery and my right thyroid, and the cancerous cells were successfully removed.
The endocrinologist kept the left side thyroid knowing there was potential for growth, which could cause cancer. They had hopes that the left thyroid would not cause difficulties so that I could benefit from its natural hormones and function without the dependence of medications.

Currently, I am intermittently experiencing the same symptoms that I had when I developed cancer in my right thyroid. I went in for testing and found out the remaining left thyroid has doubled in size because of a new tumor. A biopsy and ultrasound confirmed my second diagnosis of thyroid cancer.
So far, it has not grown further than the gland itself. We are hoping that there won’t be any surprises once the thyroid is surgically removed.
