Hurricane Sandy flooded Avenue C and, like so many others, we lost a lot. As we seek government aid and await the final judgment from our insurance claims agent, we expect to come up far short of funding for our rebuilding efforts. Our basement was completely submerged in flood water and destroyed both our ice machines, our walk-in refrigerator, our dry storage, our beer lines, our g-mix machine, our bar low-boy refrigerator, sound equipment, and plenty of inventory. And more. After a week, we got heat, hot water, and power back. We await telephone and internet for the foreseeable future, which means no credit card transactions. All this, of course, is just stuff, and we will rebuild it. The trickier part is getting people to come back to Avenue C and get back to business as usual, as soon as possible. We are asking for your support in any way possible, if not in dollars, than as you send us business and come by to the bar as often as possible and bring folks back to the (far) East Village.
Thanks so much.
