Support Schmitt Family Cancer Fund

Thank you for taking the time to visit this site and taking the opportunity to get to know Vickie, a remarkable woman, mother, wife, daughter and friend who has been fighting the most courageous battle of her life. For those of you that know and for those of you that do not, this journey started almost ten years ago...

Beginning in April 2001, the most unfortunate news was given that she had breast cancer and would have to begin treatment consisting of radiation and chemotherapy. After a few years of this she was blessed with the news that her cancer was in remission. Days, weeks and years went by with celebration that she had overcome this horrible disease.

Unfortunately six years later after receiving good news we found out that the breast cancer moved into her arm. She has since had multiple surgeries including a rod placed in her arm to replace the bone effected by cancer.

This has been a real challange for her getting used to using one arm due to limited abilities in the other arm since the surgery. For nearly the past three years since then she has been receiving chemotherapy on a weekly basis.  In the midst of all this heartache, she has always maintained a positive outlook on life and continued to put others before herself.

On November 24, 2010 she received the most devastating news of her life up to this point. The family found out that the cancer has spread to her brain. She has been experiencing extreme dizziness which is making it sometimes hard for her to do simple tasks that would have once been easy. Sadly enough she is now unable to work due to these changes. Also in light of the economy, her husband is currently laid off. As you can imagine this is causing much added stress to the already terrible situation.

Although we are unsure of her time remaining we are believing and praying for a miracle. With the high cost of medical expenses and bills piling up, we are asking for those that are able to contribute, whether big or small, to give a gift this holiday season that will be a huge blessing to our family.  If you are unable to give, all that we ask, is that you keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and supporting our cause. Our family cannot thank you enough for the gifts and prayers you have given to us. It will forever be appreciated. Please feel free to share this site with other friends and family. We appreciate all the support we can get. God bless you and your families!

Love,
The Schmitt Family
