1917 Here & Now

Donation protected

What caused the Russian Revolution of 1917?  And how do we make sense of it 100 years later?

ARCC presents a unique UK-Russian multimedia bilingual production that attempts to answer these questions.

Through a collage of music, drama and multi-layered visual production, the director Mikhail Umanets seeks to create not as much a chronicle of the 1917 revolution, but to express the struggle of our contemporary city-dwellers to interpret Russia's eventful past.

The actors do not play Ivan Bunin, Fyodor Dostoevsky, John Reed or Vladimir Mayakovsky, but rather play their contemporary attempt and struggle to inhabit their words and their worlds accurately.

There will be two performances in Rotherhithe Shaft on September 30 and October 2.
