A compassionate 14 year old boy posted on a recent neighborhood social media app asking for yard work and chores to raise money to help his mother as they are in a desperate situation! My heart swelled as I felt the urge to find out what has happened.
I have talked to the mom and due to the sensitive nature of the situation I am not posting any names. The mother is in the local Crime Victims Compensation program because of her abusive husband. She has a protective order against him and is also working with another local organization who helps women and children in violent situations. Her husband found out where she is currently living and has broken in several times. She was able to break the lease with no penalty due to the protective order. This organization has helped her find another house as well as protecting her identity. She was able to put down one half of the security deposit but needs to pay the other half of $725.00 in order to move.
Her abusive husband caused her to lose her previous job in hospitality management. She has a new job that is about 45 mins from home as a manager in the restaurant industry. In between jobs, she drove for a car service to earn money and put a lot of miles on her vehicle. She is now also having car repair needs. The local organization she is working with for victims is helping find a place to get her car repaired at a low cost. But, having dependable transportation to and from work is a must.
This mom works hard, is in all the right protective programs, has two pre-teenage kids, life is just plain tough right now and the cash crunch is real.
She has only 5 days to come up with the needed security deposit in order to move to a safe place. In addition she needs to be able to get moved as well as get her car repaired. The expenses are real and burdensome......so I am trying to raise $1,500 to get her passed this hump.
Together.....we can make a difference. If we all give a little.... together we can get her where she needs to be. Thank you for considering.
