AME MISSION HOUSE DESTROYED IN MUDSLIDE

The flooding and mudslide that occurred on August, 2017 was a catastrophic tragedy for the people residing in Sierra Leone. The victims of this act of nature caused numerous residents to lose everything—if they survived.  Sadly, over 1,000 did not! The stories of devastation are many.  Each one is heart breaking. The effort to return to normal is extremely difficult, following such a tragic event. Today, many victims remain homeless, hopeless, and alone, as they do not have the basic necessities of food, hygiene items or housing.  Sadly, many children are orphaned.

YOUR SUPPORT, over the past months, has ensured the provision of essential and much needed basic supplies to families in need in Sierra Leone. Our major project is to rebuild, the totally destroyed, AME Mission House which was located in the path of the mudslide.  Previously, The Mission House, a one level, one family, low-rent property, was used to house AME families in transition.  The good news is that the new property will accommodate three families.  There will be three levels, which will embody modern, fully equipped, two bedroom residences.  Indeed, a welcomed home setting, located in downtown Freetown, Sierra Leone.

The cost to rebuild the structure is $55,000 US dollars.  Thanks to your generous donations thus far. To accomplish this essential need, an additional $20,000 is required.

Every contribution provides major assistance in completing this project which will empower families who will otherwise be denied.  Abundant favor for your willingness to make a positive difference –now.

Blessings,

SIERRA LEONE WEST AFRICA STILL
NEEDS YOUR HELP

Rising sea levels, severe draughts, the melting of the polar caps, the more frequent and devastating natural disasters all raise demand for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. ~ Leon Panetta

RECOVERY FROM CATASTROPHIC MUDSLIDES IS PAINFULLY SLOW FOR THIS POVERTY STRICKEN WEST AFRICAN NATION.

A month ago, the torrential rains caused Sugar Loaf Mountain to collapse. The resulting mudslides changed the lives of 6,000 citizens in and near Freetown, forever. An estimated 1,000 killed, over 7,000 were displaced, 800 are missing and over 2,000 homes were destroyed.

Today both resources and revenues are lacking in the essential effort to ensure food and water access and distribution as the population has a high vulnerability to malaria, typhoid and cholera; and, they have a critical need for medicine, housing accommodations, bedding, clothing and transportation following this devastating disaster.

Please help the victims. Their infrastructure is fragile. Their recovery and survival, in large measure, depends upon global assistance. Your monetary support, in any/all amounts will be the difference maker.

While natural disasters capture headlines and national attention short-term, the work of recovery and rebuilding is long-term.
