126 is the republic of Ireland's longest-running artist-led gallery, open since 2005. We are a not-for profit  gallery that: runs a year long exhibition programme, produces publications, undertakes research and runs a diverse set of residencies as well as workshops and classes. We do so with the support of over 185 members and a growing local, national and international audience. We are committed to paying our exhibiting artists and are run entirely by a board of professionals that give their time for free because they're passionate about providing a visual arts space for all of its members and visitors. Due to increasing rents, we will close the doors on our Flood Street space at the end of May. We've found a great new home in Woodquay, Galway City centre - an exciting new exhibition space where we can keep doing what we do- and even more besides!Since opening in 2005, 126 has grown a reputation for its commitment to non-commercial contemporary art presented with a meticulous aesthetic, that welcomes anyone to come in, meet us, and interact with exciting new work.Within 2016 126 will have:
-Offered subsidised residencies to 9 artists
-Provided exhibition opportunities to over 25 artists
-Trained 4 curatorial interns
-Commissioned writing by 14 different writers
-Provided work to 1 graphic designer & 1 illustrator
-Hosted 2 international exhibitions from European Artist-Led spaces
-Shown 12 diverse exhibitions that are free to visit
-Hosted an exciting programme of events and workshops.
-Produced 2 brand new publications
-Given 11,000 visitors* the chance to see something fresh and new.
......but we urgently need your help to get our new doors open!

We're raising money to renovate our new premises, so that we can provide Galway with an exciting new public gallery space, create opportunities for emerging artists and give everyone who comes to the city a space to see, think and talk about something different and exciting.*In 2015 126 had over 11,000 visitors and looks set to exceed this in 2016.

We're grateful for any support you can give us, and will acknowledge every single one of our donors on our website. We've also added a few rewards for those really generous souls.
