1000 Backpacks for Foster Kids

Donation protected
We need your help to buy 1,000 backpacks for Foster Kids!

1) Did you know that every year, thousands of abused, abandoned and neglected children enter foster care?

2) Did you know that the average foster child doesn't even have a bag to store their belongings? So they are forced to travel around with garbage bags and plastic bags.

5 Amazing People that you didn't know that went through the foster care system:

Alonzo Mourning
"He Credits Foster Mother for Teaching Him to be a Man"

Tiffany Haddish
"At age 9, Tiffany Haddish acted as a mother to her younger siblings after her own mother was badly hurt in a car accident. She fed them and dressed them all while helping her mother recover. By the time she was 12, she entered into foster care. "

Simone Biles
"Simone and her three siblings entered Ohio's foster care system at age five due to her mother's substance abuse issues."

Eddie Murphy
"Eddie Murphy’s experience in foster care was a short, but very important part of his life. He was just eight years old when he and his brother were sent to a foster home because of his mother’s illness. Although he stayed in foster care for just about one year, he credits the experience with helping him develop a sense of humor and making him realize how important it is to find something to laugh about in every situation. "

Darryl “DMC” McDaniels
"Darryl “DMC” McDaniels’ spent the first five years of his life in foster care, which he found out while writing his autobiography at 35.'

WE NEED YOUR HELP:

We're raising money to buy 1,000 backpacks, duffel bags and other necessities like toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant and blankets for foster kids in South Florida.

The average child in foster care is being moved around the foster care system with nothing but a plastic bag or trash bag. Do you know how that can emotionally and mentally affect their wellbeing?

Being looked at or feel like they are trashed and no-one loves them? That is why the work being done by foster homes, like child net is so important.

After learning that this is a serious issue, we decided to do something about it. Sociallybuzz and 2nd To None are teaming up to donate 1,000 book bags to Childnet, the leading foster care agency in both Broward and Palm Beach Counties.

After we donate our first 1K backpacks, our goal is to donate a total of 10K backpacks over the next 2 years.

HOW WILL THE MONEY RAISED  BE USED:

The money will be used to purchase backpacks from different wholesalers. With the minimum cost of one bag being between $3.65 to $5.50 each (Based on Quantity).

We would truly be grateful to all who would consider sharing or donating to this cause.

About Childnet
ChildNet has been chosen by the Florida Department of Children & Families to serve as the Community Based Care (CBC) lead agency in both Broward and Palm Beach Counties. As such, it is the single private non-profit entity responsible for managing the local system of services and supports for the communities' most vulnerable children. Their system of care was developed with extensive input from local stakeholders and its effective implementation depends upon their continued support.

"To protect abused, abandoned and neglected children in the communities we serve."

We will work diligently with Childnet to distribute these book bags to every child in need of a bag.

Please help us by donating and sharing this with your network. Something you do today will make a difference in someone's life.
