Dear all,
I'm Juliette Rahon a French dancer and choreographer based in Leipzig Germany, and I’m the founder of Juliette Rahon &Co. I would like to present you the project ‚1001 LEBEN‘, a piece where no borders exist between music and dance.
„1001 LEBEN“ is a dance music production about DREAMS, REALITY, LOVE, FANTASY, DEATH , HUMOR AND INSANITY. A piece which creates a juxtaposition of many different lifes and therefore presents a utopian space to the audience where everything is realizable. The concept is freely inspired by the very ambiguous but also enchanting children´s book Peter Pan which will only be used as a story line to engage us in the question: “Will the 21st century have been the century of the ‘Neverlanders’” and “what might it mean in the 21st century to grow up?”
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
This project aims to develop an artistic language open to everybody, with the wish to democratize the „classical“ culture. I want to create an interdisciplinary collective formed by freelancers and theatre artists, who bridge the gap between the free scene and traditional arts.
I want to open my project to young people from different backgrounds and cultures, who have not necessarily the material means to go to the theater.
This project is for everyone who has the wish to be transcended by the power of music and dance.
Why would you support this project?
To help Juliette Rahon & Co establish an international ensemble who want to collaborate together for further productions in the future. With your support you will contribute to stop the self- exploitation of freelance artists in the world. We are some of the most hard working people in society, with the désire through our art to make this world better, that is why i'm asking for this act of solidarity .
Who are the people behind the project?
In 2016 Juliette Rahon started her research involving musicians in the staging with her trio piece „ Nomade“ in co-production with „Werkstattmacher e.V.“ in Lofft . The choreographer repeated this great experience in June 2018 with the piece „Les Nomades“ at the Leipzig’s Opera, and deepened this fine collaboration. She now feels the need to explore and develop her choreographic pattern with a bigger group.
The project „1001 Leben“, is characterised by the diversity of my amazing international artistic group of dancers with KATIE DOUGLAS from Australia, CHARLIE FOUCHIER from France, ALICIA VARELA CARBALLO from Spain, ROBERT SÖDERSTRÖM from Sweden and two soloist from the Gewandhaus Orchestra SÉBASTIAN JACOT from Switzerland and LÉONARD FREY-MAIBACH from France, and my dramaturge JOSEPHINE BOCK from Germany.
Juliette Rahon & Co has been invited by the Schaubühne lindenfels theater to create the piece „1001 Leben“. The creation process will take place between November 2018 and February 2019. The Première will be on the 8 of March 2019 at the Schaubühne Lindenfels theatre in Leipzig.
Unfortunately we didn't get enough support on that day to cover the costs of travel and accommodation for the artists in Leipzig, as well as the rental costs for rehearsal studios and stage setting.
Therefore WE NEED YOU TO SUPPORT THIS INTERNATIONAL UNIQUE ARTISTIC CULTURAL EXCHANGE for:

Je suis Juliette Rahon danseuse et chorégraphe lyonnaise, basée à Leipzig en Allemagne, ainsi que fondatrice de l’ensemble Juliette Rahon & Co. Je souhaite vous présenter ma nouvelle création „1001 vies“ , une oeuvre où la musique et la danse sont en parfaite osmose.
„1001 vies“ est une pièce musicale et chorégraphique qui parle de RÊVE, de RÉALITÉ, d’AMOUR, de FANTAISIE, de la MORT, d’HUMOUR et d’ABSURDITÉ. La pièce inspirée des aventures de „Peter Pan“ de J.M. Barrie, confronte le monde fantastique de Peter Pan et le présent immédiat dans une juxtaposition de vies, et présente au spectateur un espace utopique où tout est possible.
Quel est l’objectif du projet et à qui ce projet est-il destiné?
Ce projet à pour but développer un langage artistique ouvert à tout le monde, avec le souhait de démocratiser la culture dite "classique". Je veux créer un ensemble international interdisciplinaire composé de danseurs contemporains intermittents et de musiciens d’orchestre, qui forment la transition entre innovation et tradition. De plus je souhaite certaines répétitions pour les scolaires afin de présenter le travail aux enfants/adolescents qui n'ont pas nécessairement la chance de se déplacer aux concerts ou à l'opéra.
Ce projet est donc destiné à tout le monde; à tous ceux qui souhaitent se laisser transporter par l’incroyable pouvoir de la musique et de la danse.
Pourquoi soutiendriez-vous ce projet?
Pour aider Juliette Rahon & Co à créer sa compagnie composée d’artistes internationaux qui ont le souhait de collaborer ensemble pour de futures productions.
De plus votre soutien permettra de stopper l’exploitation des intermittents du spectacle dans le monde. Nous faisons partie des personnes qui travaillent sans cesse, dans des conditions difficiles, avec le désir de faire de ce monde, un monde meilleur grâce à notre art. Il est temps que notre statut soit reconnu par la société ainsi que par les politiciens. Ce jour n’est malheureusement pas encore arrivé c’est pourquoi je suis confrontée à faire appel à votre solidarité.
Quels sont les Personnes impliquées dans ce projet?
L’ensemble Juliette Rahon & Co est né en 2016 de la rencontre de Juliette Rahon chorégraphe avec Léonard Frey-Maibach musicien, tous deux lyonnais, lors de la création de la pièce „Nomade“ présentée à l'opéra de Leipzig. Leur univers s’inscrit dans une pluridisciplinarité artistique, en mélangeant danse, musique et poésie.
J’ai donc souhaité renouveler cette superbe expérience avec un groupe plus important.
La production „1001 Vies“ est caractérisée par la diversité de ma formidable équipe composée de danseurs/ses avec: KATIE DOUGLAS venant d’Australie, CHARLIE FOUCHIER venant de Paris, ALICIA VARELA CARBALLO de Palma de Majorque, ROBERT SÖDERSTRÖM venant de Gotland une petite île Suédoise , ainsi que nos deux musiciens solistes de l’orchestre du Gewandhaus SÉBASTIAN JACOT de Genève et LÉONARD FREY-MAIBACH de Lyon, sans oublier notre dramaturge JOSEPHINE BOCK venant d’Allemagne.
Le Théâtre de la Schaubühne Lindenfels de Leipzig séduit par l’originalité du concept a décidé d'inviter la Compagnie pour la saison 2018-2019. La période de création aura lieu entre novembre 2018 et février 2019, la Première mondiale sera le 8 mars 2019 dans le Théâtre de la Schaubühne Lindenfels de Leipzig.
Malheureusement il nous manque encore des fonds pour pouvoir couvrir les frais de transports et d’hébergement pour les artistes ne vivant pas à Leipzig, ainsi que pour payer les frais de location de studios, et rémunérer correctement les artistes.
