100 Holes for HOPE
PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is the flagship military program of PGA REACH WNY Foundation, the charitable foundation of the Western New York PGA. PGA HOPE introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being.
Tim Fries, PGA (Glen Oak GC), Jeff Mietus, PGA (Glen Oak GC), Scott Marble (Buffalo Tournament Club), Brian Koziol (WGRZ), John Martek (SMGA) and Steve Bartkowski (WNYPGA Executive Director) will be playing 100 holes of golf in one day on Tuesday, August 28th to raise awareness and funds for this great cause. Funded by PGA REACH WNY Foundation, PGA HOPE is offered at no cost to Military veterans and is dedicated to working to change the statistic showing that 22 veterans a day commit suicide. The Department of Veterans Affairs research and clinical experience verify that physical activity is important to maintaining good health, speeding recovery and improving overall quality of life. For many injured Veterans, adaptive sports provide their first exposure to physical activity after injury.
Thanks to the support of many fellow PGA Professionals, this program continues to grow each and every year across WNY. The vision from the PGA REACH WNY Foundation is to ultimately give complete access to these PGA HOPE “graduates” in a safe and fun golf environment year round.
